Subscription Ledger Studio
A practical programme for building a financial auditing app mindset around API subscription audits — from raw events to board-ready explanations.
Modules
- Week 1 — Billing taxonomies. Seats, usage, hybrid, and marketplace add-ons; how vendors name the same thing differently.
- Week 2 — API pulls without drama. Safe exports, pagination traps, and when a CSV is more honest than a dashboard.
- Week 3 — Dual-clock reconciliation. Align service periods with invoice dates and deferred revenue schedules.
- Week 4 — Exception theatres. Credits, chargebacks, trial conversions, and orphaned test tenants.
- Week 5 — Evidence packs. Folder structures auditors accept; naming conventions that survive staff turnover.
- Week 6 — Narrative rehearsal. Present findings to CFOs who have twelve minutes and one follow-up question.
Learning outcomes
- Produce a repeatable reconciliation workbook for at least two live vendors.
- Explain usage spikes without relying on vendor support chat.
- Document control gaps honestly, including systems this course cannot fix.
- Brief stakeholders using numbers they can re-trace.
Instructor
Hannah Cho — former SaaS controller in Hong Kong, now focuses on subscription evidence design. She co-wrote the Audit Lab checklists used across Apiworkflow Digital programmes.

FAQ
Do I need engineering support?
Helpful, not required. We work with exportable reports and read-only API keys. If your vendor locks exports behind enterprise contracts, that is a real limitation — the course cannot invent data you are not allowed to see.
Is this an accounting certification?
No. It is applied training for subscription audit practice. It does not replace HKICPA pathways or licensed auditor credentials.
What tools do we use?
Spreadsheets, a light Python notebook optional track, and vendor sandboxes when available. We avoid locking you into a single SaaS auditor product.
Reviews from this course
“Week 3’s dual-clock worksheet caught a deferred revenue miss we had lived with for two quarters. I wish the FX examples covered CNH earlier — we improvised.”
★★★★☆ · “Solid on Stripe and Chargebee samples. Marketplace fees module felt rushed but the evidence pack naming stuck.”
